GHOST POPS ‘TROLLEY’
Shopper marketing / In-store stunt

As a kid growing up in South Africa, Ghost Pops were the most popular chips around. Unfortunately, in keeping with their name, they disappeared from stores for about a decade. When Simba (PepsiCo) decided to bring them back, we had to relaunch the brand in a big way, with a small budget. So, we rigged everyday shopping trolleys with motors, thereby creating an arsenal of Ghost Trolleys. These trolleys were filled with Ghost Pops and driven by remote controls from hidden locations. They moved around supermarkets by themselves in a spooky, supernatural way, surprising shoppers and providing us with great awareness and PR opportunities.

GHOST POPS ‘EYES’
Poster campaign

We created a spooky series of posters where we gave the characters lenticular eyes. This gave the impression that their eyes followed you as you walked past.

Creative Circle Ad of the Year (Outdoor)

GHOST POPS ‘DRIVERLESS DELIVERY VEHICLE’

To further push the ghostly vibe, we even created Driverless delivery vehicles. Contravision strips applied to our delivery vehicles, gave the appearance that no one was behind the wheel.

Art Director’s Club Gold
One Show Merit

GHOST POPS ‘HALLOWEEN'
TV campaign

Halloween was the perfect time to launch on TV and continue our ghostly theme. We created the illusion that people’s TV sets were possessed, by running normal commercials and cutting them off midway. People would think that there was a station fault or that their TV sets had somehow switched off. That’s when we’d surprise them.
