👋 Hi! Howzit! Hallo! I’m Marion. I’m a British South African with 20+ years’ experience as a Creative Director and Art Director, currently living in Frankfurt, Germany.
I’ve won over 90 international and locally recognised awards including Golds at Cannes, Clios, and the Art Directors Club (American), Graphite and Wood at D&AD, as well as Silvers and Bronzes at One Show and LIA. My work has also been ranked amongst the top ads in the world by the Gunn Report (now WARC) and by Campaign magazine. In my last year in South Africa, I was ranked number 1 Agency Art Director in Africa and the Middle East (2019). I’ve regularly won effectiveness awards and my work has been voted amongst Germany and South Africa’s best loved advertising.
I’ve worked on and led some of the world’s best-loved brands, including Cadbury, KFC, Coca-Cola, Johnnie Walker, Opel, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Hot Wheels, NIVEA, Investec Private Bank, Virgin Atlantic, South African Airways, Liberty (short-term and long-term insurance), PepsiCo, Cell C (telecom), Wish, Unilever and Nestlé.
Some career highlights include working on the culture-shifting Philips and the Nelson Mandela Foundation’s “Shave To Remember” campaign, where in honour of what would have been the great man’s 100th birthday, we got the nation to wear his haircut and remember what he stood for. And the time we put the world’s smallest car sound system inside a little Hot Wheels car and launched it at South Africa’s biggest motor show, the Johannesburg International Motor Show.
I love growing my people and their ideas, raising the creative bar and the level of craft. In fact, I’ve been told my superpower is crafting work within an inch of its life. I really do love craft, but I secretly wish my superpower was a little cooler, like the ability to melt someone with my eyes. But that’s enough about me, I’d love to hear about you.
